Golf courses are always in a state of constant change and evolution since they are growing! As the trees, grass and other shrubs grow, they interfere with the width of the putting surface of the golf course. In order to reduce the wastage of the surface, these elements forming the major part of the course need to be maintained in a proper and orderly fashion thus increasing the efficiency of the course itself.

Well-maintained golf courses provide plenty of the ecological as well as community benefits. Fertilizers and pesticides should be used but in moderation over the entire golf course to maintain a healthy turf.

Trees are also an important and vital part of any golf course. The overgrown limbs of trees have to be trimmed as part of the tree maintenance program. Softer slopes are most cost effective and have less maintenance compared to steep slopes.

Trim work is the most difficult and crucial part of golf course maintenance. Sand Bunkers require the sand to be added and replaced constantly as well as raking. If the sand bunkers are steep, after heavy rain, the sand will always need to be shoveled back into the bunkers.

Maintaining the golf carts, which are generally petrol or electric, is also very important. The batter terminals and water levels should be checked every fortnight if you are using electric carts. The damage to the greens in the golf course can be reduced to a large extent by using Soft spike golf shoes instead of the metal spike shoes.

The irrigation system of any golf course also needs proper care in order to work to its full potential. If this system is maintained efficiently, it will reduce the overall water wastage and improve the appearance and quality of the greens in a big way. By following a few simple steps, you can keep your golf course looking beautiful and well manicured thus ensuring a quality experience for the players.

Rotor Maintenance- The arcs of the rotors should be regularly adjusted and worn out seals and nozzles should be replaced immediately. Anticipate changes in weather and increase or decrease water usage accordingly. This will help prevent dry spots at the same time lessen the risk of over-watering the golf course.

Do You Fear A Golf Weight Training Program

Golf weight training program. In a sport that hardly has any controversies; few issues have come as close to being controversial as golf weight training programs have. More so with amateur and non-professional golfers.

And yet if you really examine the facts, a golf weight training program need not be controversial at all.

Although professionals have now fully embraced the benefit of golf weight training programs, amongst the other golfers golf weight training programs are still looked on with a lot of fear and apprehension. These fears are of course mainly based on ignorance rather than enough solid facts and knowledge.

One of the greatest fears is that some of the golf weight training programs designed to build strength are too strenuous. Others fear that they will develop great big muscles that will make them stiff and yet flexibility is an important attribute for any golfer.

These fears are of course completely unjustified. Most golf weight training programs have been successfully completed by golfers who are as old as 80 years old. Junior golfers barely in their teens have also graduated from the same programs without any problem. Not to mention lady golfers some of who are senior citizens.

Then it is significant to note that golf weight training programs are designed to increase strength and not to body build or build great huge muscles. The use of dumbbells is different for the two different objectives. For example lighter weights are used and they are lifted more times than the case would be for a bodybuilder dealing in much heavier weights.

Many good golf weight training programs involving dumbbells will also include certain stretch exercises using them. Stretch exercises are very good in improving golf swings.

When you take a closer look, golf weight training programs are really not be feared. Rather they should be embraced as they have helped many golfers revolutionize their games.

There is no doubt that the importance of a golf weight training program will continue to rise in the years to come.

More Consistency in Your Golf Swing

A consistent swing is probably what many golfers dream of when our heads hit the pillow.

First, let us do a little review of the golf swing. To hit the ball squarely on the center of the club head you must take the club through the proper swing path. A proper swing path will allow the club to align itself correctly with the ball to hit the shot you are trying to hit.

Anyway, this process begins with your address, moves through your take away, into the back swing, onto the transition between back swing and down swing, into contact, and finishes with the follow through.

The keys to a consistent swing are: 1) efficient golf swing mechanics and 2) the body. Golf Swing Mechanics

Golf Swing mechanics is probably the easier of the two areas to understand. Beginning at address, moving through all the stages of the golf swing, and finishing with the follow through, the body is required to move through a specific sequence of movements to perform the golf swing correctly. If the body does not move through this sequence properly then the result will be a poor, inefficient and awkward looking swing.

Over time, a poor swing results in poor consistency (every once in awhile you hit a good shot regardless of your swing, that’s what keeps us coming back for more). In addition to the body performing an intricate number of biomechanical movements in the golf swing, timing of these movements is critical for you to hit the ball successfully.

Each and every biomechanical movement within the golf swing has a certain sequence and timing. If they are not performed in the correct order or timing, then the golf swing will not be efficient. Poor timing results in those wonderful slices, snap hooks, chili dips and topping the ball that we know all too well.

Now, how do we improve on the mechanics of the golf swing? 2) Practice, practice, practice. Fix the Engine that Swings the Club

One question might help you realize the importance of “the body” when it comes to the golf swing. What swings the golf club?

Some of the answers I have heard are: “my hands,” “the swing,” “my hips” and even “the grip.” The answer is your body. It is the body that swings the club. So why is this so important to consistency in your golf game?

We know from our golf lessons, that there are certain positions the body is required to be in during the golf swing. Now, from the address position your body must move the club on the correct path and generate club head speed to hit the ball accurately and with power. What most people do not understand is that for the body to perform the golf swing correctly, certain parameters need to be met by the body. If your body does not have the minimal levels of these factors in relation to the golf swing, then what do you think will happen? Well, let me tell you, it will be very difficult for the body to swing the club with the correct mechanics. So what does consistency in my golf swing really come down to?

It is vital to understand that improvements in your golf swing mechanics and improvements in your body specific to golf are equally important when it comes to creating a consistent golf swing. If you ignore either the body or the mechanics, it would be safe to say that your golf swing and game will suffer. Take some time on a routine basis to address both the mechanics of your swing and the body supporting it.
