The most important equipment to your golf game are your golf clubs and the type of ball that you choose to use. But that is not all there is to the game of golf, as there are plenty of other accessories available to help make each golf round more enjoyable and comfortable. Here are some tips on golf apparel and accessories to help you make wise choices when you buy.

The main thing to consider other than style when you buy golf apparel is its comfort. Your clothing should also remain comfortable for the entire round of golf. Having a good set of golf shoes will make a significant impact on your game as golf shoes help maintain a good foundation for your swing.

A good golf glove can also make a positive contribution toward your swing, as it helps you maintain a good grip and contact with the club all the way through your swing. Unless you usually ride in a motorized golf cart, a golf pull cart can be a wonderful labor saving device as you navigate the golf course. If you have ever tried to carry an average size golf bag for an entire 18 holes of golf, you know how wearing and tiring that can eventually be.

But placing your golf bag on a pull cart and rolling along instead relieves most of the heavy burden as you travel. After the rain subsides, you will really appreciate having a good set of golf towels available to wipe off your club faces and to keep your golf balls clean. And a good golf towel can also come in for good use during the summertime to help wipe away perspiration.

Most golf accessories are not absolutely essential to the game of golf itself, but they can go a long way in contributing toward making each round of golf more pleasurable and enjoyable, and isn’t that the main reason we play golf?

Aspects of Golf Course Maintenance

Golf courses are always in a state of constant change and evolution since they are growing! As the trees, grass and other shrubs grow, they interfere with the width of the putting surface of the golf course. In order to reduce the wastage of the surface, these elements forming the major part of the course need to be maintained in a proper and orderly fashion thus increasing the efficiency of the course itself.

Well-maintained golf courses provide plenty of the ecological as well as community benefits. Fertilizers and pesticides should be used but in moderation over the entire golf course to maintain a healthy turf.

Trees are also an important and vital part of any golf course. The overgrown limbs of trees have to be trimmed as part of the tree maintenance program. Softer slopes are most cost effective and have less maintenance compared to steep slopes.

Trim work is the most difficult and crucial part of golf course maintenance. Sand Bunkers require the sand to be added and replaced constantly as well as raking. If the sand bunkers are steep, after heavy rain, the sand will always need to be shoveled back into the bunkers.

Maintaining the golf carts, which are generally petrol or electric, is also very important. The batter terminals and water levels should be checked every fortnight if you are using electric carts. The damage to the greens in the golf course can be reduced to a large extent by using Soft spike golf shoes instead of the metal spike shoes.

The irrigation system of any golf course also needs proper care in order to work to its full potential. If this system is maintained efficiently, it will reduce the overall water wastage and improve the appearance and quality of the greens in a big way. By following a few simple steps, you can keep your golf course looking beautiful and well manicured thus ensuring a quality experience for the players.

Rotor Maintenance- The arcs of the rotors should be regularly adjusted and worn out seals and nozzles should be replaced immediately. Anticipate changes in weather and increase or decrease water usage accordingly. This will help prevent dry spots at the same time lessen the risk of over-watering the golf course.

Golf weight training program. In a sport that hardly has any controversies; few issues have come as close to being controversial as golf weight training programs have. More so with amateur and non-professional golfers.

And yet if you really examine the facts, a golf weight training program need not be controversial at all.

Although professionals have now fully embraced the benefit of golf weight training programs, amongst the other golfers golf weight training programs are still looked on with a lot of fear and apprehension. These fears are of course mainly based on ignorance rather than enough solid facts and knowledge.

One of the greatest fears is that some of the golf weight training programs designed to build strength are too strenuous. Others fear that they will develop great big muscles that will make them stiff and yet flexibility is an important attribute for any golfer.

These fears are of course completely unjustified. Most golf weight training programs have been successfully completed by golfers who are as old as 80 years old. Junior golfers barely in their teens have also graduated from the same programs without any problem. Not to mention lady golfers some of who are senior citizens.

Then it is significant to note that golf weight training programs are designed to increase strength and not to body build or build great huge muscles. The use of dumbbells is different for the two different objectives. For example lighter weights are used and they are lifted more times than the case would be for a bodybuilder dealing in much heavier weights.

Many good golf weight training programs involving dumbbells will also include certain stretch exercises using them. Stretch exercises are very good in improving golf swings.

When you take a closer look, golf weight training programs are really not be feared. Rather they should be embraced as they have helped many golfers revolutionize their games.

There is no doubt that the importance of a golf weight training program will continue to rise in the years to come.

6 Keys to Selecting The Right Golf School

There are many criteria to selecting the school that is worthy of the investment, and this is not an exhaustive list.

Key #1) Golfing style

As with any topic or subject matter to learn, golf can be played in many styles. Some play aggressively, others, like me, more conservatively. But ultimately you have to choose a school or instructor that matches you.

Your skills, your personality, your style.

Key #2) Problem areas

I have trouble with slicing. Consistently I find that my shots slice to the right. You, to be sure, have at least one issue with your game or specific shots.    You may want to find a school to address and help correct that shortcoming. If you come back from a long weekend and your slice has vanished, you would have had time (and money) well spent.

Key #3) Instructor to class-size ratio

This is a personal preference item. Some people learn in a group setting (even craze the interaction). It may also depend on what you are trying to gain from the school which one you actually choose.

Key #4) Price

Golf is your life and no amount of money is too much if you improve your game, and thus your enjoyment. For others, big obstacle. If you are considering a golf school then you know that most start above $1500. There are some “big name” instructors offering half day lessons for $10,000.

If you are price sensitive then, by all means, do not forget to add in travel, lodging, and food costs. Many times these “incidentals” can double the overall cost.

Key #5)  Proximity

What is your traveling distance? One plus of keeping tabs on those schools “in your own backyard” is when these offer last-minute specials you can jump on those quickly.

Key #6) Length of training

Like any good consultant would answer, it depends. It depends on whether you are looking for a long weekend, a one day seminar, or wrapping a vacation around your training. This is an important factor in choosing a school so compare wisely.

Five Ways To Enjoy Golf More

We all love the game of golf, but some times it is just as they say, a good walk spoiled. Here are a few ways to enjoy golf more.

  • Don’t play the blue tees.

Unless you are at least a 10 handicap or lower, why bother making the golf course even harder than it has to be. If you are shooting in the 90’s or triple digits, it makes no sense making a conscious decision to making the course more difficult.  Play the white tees and take the extra level of anxiety out of the equation.

  • Improve your lie

When you are having a recreational round of golf, there is no way you should be playing the strict rules of golf. The average round of golf would be at least 6 hours at courses all over the world.  Golfers would be returning to the tees all day after hitting there first ball out bounds, or searching for every lost ball for 5 minutes.

So if we are bending the rules to save time, why not bend them to improve your lie, something you can actually benefit from.  Play winter rules all the time.

  • Play different games

Instead playing the same match with your buddies, compete in other categories other than score.  Some examples would be:

Most fairways hit

Least amount of 3 putts

Most 1 putts

  • If it is your honor, take it.

You just birdie the hardest (or easiest) hole on the golf course, it’s your tee, you earned it, take it. Challenge yourself to get another one, you will be surprised how often you can have two birdies in a row if you are actually trying to get  two birdies in a row.

  • Lower your expectations.

If you are a average golfer you play golf twice per week if you’re lucky, on top of that, you don’t practice as much as you should.. You can’t honestly think that your game is not exactly what it should be.

Just enjoy the game itself, don’t be so hard on yourself when you’re not playing well. Even the pros have bad days.
